I'm an IT professional and entrepreneur, tinkerer, maker, thinker. Working towards owning our own sailing boat together with my wife. I learned to sail in my teens on small boats, been crew on traditional Dutch clippers ('bruine vloot') and now looking to go cruising. I'm part of a maker space and have been a volunteer at a railway museum for the last couple of years. Love to learn and do new things. Fully intend to buy a sailboat in the next one or two years, just need to figure out which one. I'm able to work remotely for extended periods, which means I can go for longer cruises provided I'm able to put some hours towards my software engineering work.

I already know how to sail dinghies, be deck crew on a big multi mast ship and motoring narrow boats on canals, all on inland waters. Other than a ferry crossing and an occasional boat and dive tour, have no experience of coastal and open sea sailing. I'm keen to build experience at sea. Become confident in dealing with the challenges it presents. I'd love to learn from others, from you. Love to learn about your boat and its capabilities and quirks.
