Over the last ten years I have worked on a number of boats, from single-masted sloops to a three-masted barkentine. While there is always more to learn, I do know the basics: I know how to tie a bowline, I can do an eye splice, plus whippings, lashings, painting & varnishing, et cetera. I could definitely brush up on my celestial navigation skills, and a long transit would be a valuable learning experience for me. In general though I really enjoy boats, sailing, and the types of community one finds aboard. By trade I'm a writer, so I'm always on the lookout for new experiences and stories. I'm easygoing and friendly, but a bit introverted at times so having personal space/time is pretty helpful for me (a precious commodity on a boat, I know). My bunk is often a bit of a mess, but in all other respects I like (but don't absolutely need) a clean and tidy boat. I have one ear pierced and a couple tattoos, but nothing drastic. I know the importance of hierarchy on a boat, and I like working together to accomplish a goal.

Right now I'm in Malaysia, having spent the last six months WWOOFing on boats and farms in New Zealand. Looking to continue that around Asia and the Pacific, before heading home either the long way or the short way. I'm flexible and willing to go pretty far for a fun adventure.
