Truly, the happiest holidays I have ever had have been sailing trips. Greece (Ionian), Caribbean (Granada), Turkey (Bodrum). I feel absolutely myself with teak under my bare feet, the slap of sails, the splash of seawater spray, the sway of the boat from my cabin. Simple food, uncomplicated timescales, relaxed boatmates, teamwork and casual entertainment: a game of Scrabble, cards, Monopoly all add up to perfection.
