I currently spent the last year walking from Hamburg, Germany to Fisterra, Spain. In total, I completed 8 months + of walking.

My best friend and I are embarking on a project to begin a water retention landscape in a dry region of Spain. Before starting the project I wanted to feel for myself what the distance between Hamburg to Spain felt like. I was growing tired of our fast paced world and a series of events caused me to consider other alternatives besides flying to reach my place of destination.. The intention behind walking started with me wanting to take the responsibility in my own hands (or in this case feet) to get from point A (my place of departure) to point B (Spain). I sold my belongings and left with what i needed to start a new life in Spain. In these last months, in the process of reflection, I am amazed by my resilience under pressure and what my body is capable of. Because of the nature of the move, the amount of weight on my back included everything needed to make it through 3 seasons plus of walking and the necessities needed to relocate to Spain. In the end my backpack weighed around 25% of my body weight. This act of will showed me how I am able to override the overall discomfort and learned to stay focused within my thinking in order to arrive safetly in my place of destination. It also helped me to trust the process of life, and to take things as they come.

I am originally from the United States and I am looking into alternative methods once again to arrive at my destination in the US for the winter. The idea of getting on the plane did not sit well with me after putting in the effort to walk 4,000 km to arrive at the point I am now at. I had the gut feeling/inspiration upon my arrival to Fisterra to look into a way of travel that gives me context as to how big the ocean is that seperates Europe to the Americas. I recently became an Aunt and I would love the chance to meet my newest family member before then returning back to Spain to continue the next phase of my project in creating a more substainable life for myself and others.

I do not have any experience in sailing. I am willing to learn and to help out with anything necessary. I enjoy cooking and would lend a helping hand in this area as well. I am open to travelling with a family as I had over 5 years of experience working in a bilingual Kindergarten in Hamburg. Looking forward to this next adventure within an adventure. I love being in nature and find comfort in solitude. I am curious to what the night sky looks like and to feel the expansiveness of the ocean.
