I am a wildlife technician in the Pacific Northwest so, no stranger to the chilly seas and all the beauty they express. I currently work aboard the Odisea, a sailing yatch cpnducting conservation research expeditions around the world. I dedicated over eight years to work on Pacific salmon monitoring and research projects in British Columbia and Yukon Territory where I fell in love with the aquatic world. I love to surf, hike, bird, volunteer and explore new countries on my time off. In 2023, I completed a two-month conservation focused dive master internship in Raja Ampat so I'm more than equiped to apply those amazing skills and go deep!
I learned to sail with my ex-partner in the Salish Sea off Vancouver Island. I was never the same and dream of owning my own liveaboard sailboat one day. He was/is a wonderful teacher and I was tacking alone in no time!
I've also joined winter research expeditions to the high seas on fishing boats where we encountered 9 meter swells and 80 knot winds! What a rush! Bring it on...
Prior to becoming a technician in the sciences, I was a carpentry apprentice so I am also very competent with hand and power tools and maintenance duties.
I have run twin propeller engine zodiacs on the ocean, jet boats in the snaggy Taku River near southeast Alaska, carried out boat manager duties on our dive boat in Indonesia and enjoy snorkeling cold rivers in search of spawning salmon.
A few goals for the future include learning to sail so I can one day captain my own boat, make new friends and ocean family, see as many seabirds, reefs, pelagics and cultures as I can while work hard to earn my keep!
