My husband and I moved on board in Bellingham, Washington to a 37 foot monohull in January '11. For 6 years we headed south then west with ports of call in Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama and Ecuador before sailing to the Gallapagos Islands, the Marqueses and Tuamotu archipleagos, New Caledonia, Society Islands, Tonga, Fiji, New Zealand...After 6 yrs we entered Australia where we sailed the Queensland coast for 4 years (spent the pandemic years there). We went through the Panama Canal twice as line handlers on other people's boats.
I am a night person so I did the early night to early morning watch. Except for guests who totalled about 3 months on board it was just my husband and me and yes we are still happily married. Our only tender was an inflatable kayak which helped keep us in shape. We sold the boat in Australia but miss the cruising life something awful and look forward to enjoying and sharing more adventures with folks of like minds.
