Dear Shipmates

Introduction

My husband and I moved on board in Bellingham, Washington to a 37 foot monohull in January '11. For 6 years we headed south then west with ports of call in Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama and Ecuador before sailing to the Gallapagos Islands, the Marqueses and Tuamotu archipleagos, New Caledonia, Society Islands, Tonga, Fiji, New Zealand...After 6 yrs we entered Australia where we sailed the Queensland coast for 4 years (spent the pandemic years there). We went through the Panama Canal twice as line handlers on other people's boats.

I am a night person so I did the early night to early morning watch. Except for guests who totalled about 3 months on board it was just my husband and me and yes we are still happily married. Our only tender was an inflatable kayak which helped keep us in shape. We sold the boat in Australia but miss the cruising life something awful and look forward to enjoying and sharing more adventures with folks of like minds.

A little about myself, my interests and my plans

clean & tidycommitteddiligenteasy-goingenthusiasticfit & healthyfriendlyorganisedrespectfultrustworthyconfident swimmerrarely/unlikely seasickgood communicatoreager to learn & workpolitepositive outlookcan pay own expensesdon't mind cleaningcan follow orderslearn a language

If the sailing is in the right place, I'd like to bring my Scuba gear (except tanks and weights of course). My husband doesn't dive but loves kayaking.

We are in excellent health even though the calender suggests you should question that. My/our cooking/menu was simple-no bread making for example but we managed a diverse menu.

My personal turn off is someone who uses the f___ word ALL the time. Occasionally a curse may leave my mouth but..which leads me to I don't like being screamed at unless it's necessary due to an imminent danger.

I've never gotten seasick even when crossing the infamous Drake Passage in a small 70 passenger cruise ship heading to Antarctica.

My motivation and reasons to crew on a boat

share experiencevisit remote placesseek adventuretravel

I miss dropping anchorages in remote or distant places where we met new people and experience different cultures. Plus, there is nothing like sailing far off from shore under a clear night, hearing the water slapping on the hull, a bird sounding over head or landing on the railing for the night or listening to whale calls through the hull.
