I worked in Finance/Accounting for the last 18 years in national and multinational companies. During this time, I pretty much dedicated myself to work and ended up reaching a couple of years ago the position of Finance Manager in a Fintech company.
After a life changing event that happened a year ago, I started revaluating my priorities and ended up realizing the career I chose was far from bringing me joy and fulfillment. So I started thinking about what a happy life would look like to me and got to the conclusion that the most rewarding experiences of my life were around sailing. At that time I only had multiple day trips during vacations and decided to take it to the next level.
In October 2022 I took a course for Competent crew, with the idea to slowly develop my skills up to Yachtmaster and buy my own boat once I am confident enough to sail it by myself. Currently I am studying for the RYA Day Skipper Theory course and want to finish with the exam before April when I am scheduled to have the practical course in Malta.
During the last couple of months I started searching for sailing opportunities and this is how I ended up here. Even though my sailing experience is limited, I am a fast learner and highly motivated to make this change. I am never afraid to get my hands dirty and that is why I would accept any job on a sailing vessel.
Because of my lack of experience, I am absolutely fine to contribute for expenses and in case it is a paid position, I am prone to accept a lower salary, just for the opportunity of learning.
I understand the change I am doing is an unusual one, but I would really appreciate the chance to discuss more about my motivation and how my skills could add value to your crew.
