Hello! - Shopping for a bigger boat (~40') in the next year to take down to Mexico from Oregon, so I am looking to get some more miles and trips in with different folks, on different boats before then.
I like to meet people, am pretty flexible and easy-going, but know how to make good decisions on watch and stay safe. I don't drink or smoke, but am fine being around those that do in limited amounts and not when we are offshore.
I have a USCG 25T Master credential with sailing endorsement.
I have owned a Catalina 27 that we kept on the Columbia River for day sailing and some short overnights. I also teach basic keelboat sailing at a local school during the summers on 25' keel boats. Currently I have a Merit 25 that we mostly race on while we are shopping for our next cruising boat.
I have been the skipper on 6 bareboat charters on 40' monohulls and catamarans in the Exumas, Sea of Cortez, and USVI. I crew on a Beneteau First 35 and a J120, mostly local races, but also on two PNW Offshore races that are 200 miles up the Oregon and Washington coasts, plus multiple delivery trips back from the Puget Sound to Portland...so I know how to get along on other people's boats.
Can helm day and night offshore, including flying spinnakers, know how to navigate with electronics and paper charts, use the VHF, AIS and radar. I have typical boat-owner troubleshooting and repair skills, with diesel and outboards, basic fiberglassing, plumbing, and electrical. I also cook well and like to eat!
