Seeking a novice crew position for starters - to cruise long term, preferably towards/in the Western Caribbean.
Learned to sail in Cape Town, SA and Atlantic crossing own yacht 1992 - so rusty skills - committed quick learner.

NB:- I was planning/saving to buy my own small Cat at age 62 (retirement) - but unlike many, was not willing to pull the trigger without a soulmate. By now I will remain unattached (less "politics" anyway, HA! after 4 wife's) - and boat-less, with less worries :)
So now I hope to find & develop a buddy to commit to cruising on his/their boat - while the captain might also be looking for his soulmate, or being a couple already. Thus meanwhile we both can continue with a cruising lifestyle, with each-other's company & help - simpler, committed, same language/page, no "feelings" or between-the-lines :)

Follow captain's orders with discipline and respect - as ex Army/War veteran.
I'm neat and tidy (everything has a place), and a team-player, always friendly, never moody.
Healthy, retired, young at heart, with a good sense of humor and patience to fit easily in with most people of all ages.
I'm frugal, and respectfully treat other people's stuff like my own.
Being born-&-raised in South Africa, I'm still keenly "aware" of my surroundings - for security.
I never get sea-sick nor panic - stay cool-calm-collect & clear-headed in tight situations, proven as a top-notch sharp-shooter in the 1975 war, sailing in Cape Town's 0-65 in 5 seconds S.Easter (literally), and during the Atlantic crossing.

Willing to contribute my cost of living - plus share all tasks onboard with committed diligence and old-school high responsibility & work-ethnic. Thus not a passenger for inflated tourist/gringo prices.
Sailing & navigation skills are rusty since crossing the Atlantic 1992, with log & licenses long lost & expired. Some skills remain more than others, like watch-keeping (ship's nav-lights burned into my brain for life) - but will quickly pick up with due diligence.
A practical, logic & innovative light handyman (wood & AC/DC) & keen (food) gardener.
As long-time bachelor, I don't starve - cook simple family-meals, bake healthy sourdough wholewheat breads, make jams & juices - and used to cleaning (galley slave).

Bottom Line - I make a good reliable committed friend to the right person.
