Heyho, I’m Johanna and study Cultural Studies and Geography in the North of Germany. Growing up in Rostock close to the Baltic Sea I have always been fascinated by the sea and would like to gain a bit more sailing experience. I’m a really openminded and culturally interested person. I love literature- especially seafarer novels ;), astronomy (would lobe to discover the night sky with no light pollution at all :) ) and I play the piano. I am also pretty diplomatic and easygoing and don’t have a lot of requirements;). Apart from that I get really enthusiastic about things I want to learn and can become ambitious and kind of a perfectionist. Concerning my taste in music I have a lot of favourite artists like Mark Knopfler, Eddie Vedder and Neil Young.
I'm pretty open concerning the destination of any sailing trip, just being on a boat, smelling the breeze and listening to the sound of the ocean is all I want ;). At the moment I'm spending a semester in Fiji, but am free to go for trips :)

I grew up in a small village in Germany close to the Baltic Sea. My father works on a wreck research vessel and the sea always meant home to me. So I started to get really into seafarer literature- starting with Jack London of course leading to books about circumnavigations, people floating in a lifeboat on the Pacific for 100 days (I hope that’s not going to happen ;) ) and about interesting expeditions to Polynesia. I always felt like diving in a forgotten world of adventure and places yet undiscovered. So I got to do a sailing trip to Denmark last year for a couple of days and loved the feeling of being out on the ocean, with almost no sign of civilization around you, just you, the stars, the boat and sometimes the fish and birds that might join you for a bit. I also love the smell and the atmosphere being on a sailing boat and I have never got seasick yet (but I also never experienced really big waves xD). When I was in New Zealand last year I also took the chance to get a few more miles and sailed up the East coast of the South Island which turned out to be quite a challenge with a broken engine, but eventually we made it into harbor. I'd love to have that feeling of adventure again and am hardworking knowing that it often is not as romantical as it seems ;). Also with my current studies my interest in marine geology and climatology grew and I'd love to learn more practically. It would be amazing if you'd like to have me onboard. Hope to see you soon!
