Howdy. I'm in year 4.5 of a 5 year plan to change careers. I've been a computer consultant forever and am transitioning to a career in the sailing/dive industry.

For hobbies I've been playing ice hockey for 20 years and scuba diving for 10. I pretty much suck at hockey but still absolutely love it! Scuba-wise I am a PADI certified instructor, divemaster, and rescue diver. I also have a nitrox certification.

I have completed ASA 101, 103, 104, and 114 (Basic Sailing, Basic Coastal Cruising, Bareboat Chartering, and Cruising Catamaran). Actually I did those courses twice. The first time I passed easily but didn't feel the instructor/captain really let us LEARN. He'd TELL us "move the traveler 6 inches to windward" or he'd stand behind us and TELL us exactly what to do on the throttles to dock the boat. He never explained WHY we did anything nor teach us to THINK on our own. For example, he could have said, "look at the telltales. Are we overpowered or underpowered? What can we do to adjust the power?" The second time I took the class I made sure I found a school and instructor who was more interested in teaching rather than just commanding.

Sailing experience includes sailing club and even a sailing class in college (University of Miami) way back in the 80s. Recent experience includes 7 day ASA courses, Ft. Lauderdale to Elliot Key on a Island Spirit 37 catamaran. 7 day ASA courses, St. Vincent to Grenada on a FP Bahia 46 catamaran. 7 days Nassau to Exumas on a Lagoon 450F catamaran, 8 day bareboat charter on a FP Helia 44 in USVI, and 14 days moving a Lagoon 450F from USVI to Ft. Lauderdale. I've also been a passenger on numerous scuba liveaboards in the Bahamas, Fiji, and Galapagos. And of course tons of day trips for scuba diving or snorkeling all over the world including Aruba, Barbados, Belize, Bonaire, BVI, Mexico, St. Vincent, and USVI.

I of course have a passport (expires in 2025) and I also have a TWIC card (also expires in 2025).
