I love the sea and I love sailing. I am a USN Vietnam veteran and retired from a USDA conservation agency. I am married, father of five, and grandfather of nine. However, I’m not a typical grumpy grandpa: I’m a happy, healthy guy who loves life, looking for adventure, is good with children, am a certified SCUBA diver, is clean and tidy, and can provide a lot of help with boat projects. I have received seven COVID vaccinations and boosters. I live on a fixed income and can contribute a little toward boat expenses but can contribute more by being a competent, convivial, and dependable crew person.
I’ve made several boat deliveries up and down the West Coast of the US in both power and sail boats. I have crewed on power boats from 39’ - 72’ and from San Diego to Bellingham, WA. I have also crewed sailboats from 28’ - 135’. on two Baja HaHa rallies, have completed two deliveries from mainland Mexico to California, chartered a 51’ Beneteau in the Greek Cyclades, and have transited the Panama Canal on the way to San Diego, CA. I (04/22) completed the deliverery of a Transpac49 from HI to SoCal. Had to terminate a recent (7/22) HI to Seattle Cape George 36 delivery after 1000 miles due to watermaker breakdown. (1/23) Crewed on Valiant 40 from Bahia Tortugas to La Paz. Was refit coordinator on 44’ catamaran in Honolulu Boat Harbor (8/23) then crewed from HI to La Paz (6/24). Crossed the equator on a delivery from American Samoa to Honolulu (7/24).
Even though I skipper my own boat, I can take and follow orders without hesitation and can also lend my experience to a situation if asked. I have never been seasick and I don’t whine or complain. I drink socially but never underway and never to excess. I’m a pretty good cook especially if I have a recipe to follow. I can provide my sailing re’sume’ with references when requested.
