A passionate sailor seeking opportunities for yacht deliveries worldwide, as Captain, Mate, or Delivery Crew. I began sailing in 1972 as a child taking lessons from a local yacht club. Have been sailing continuously since then as a recreational sailor expanding my experience and skills on the cold waters of west coast Canada with friends, bareboat charters, and later my own boats. To further satisfy my thirst for more sea time, I pursued opportunities for yacht deliveries and have completed numerous passages in the Pacific, Atlantic, and Caribbean regions. To date I have spent 382 days on the water with some 850 hours of night watchkeeping doing deliveries, logging 20,000M of which 15,000M was as Captain. I am a skilled helmsman, excellent navigator, experienced with a variety of GPS plotters, AIS and Radar systems. Have heavy weather experience and not prone to sea sickness. A critical thinker, capable of making effective decisions under duress. Skilled in ship’s maintenance and record keeping of all ship activities.

2024 – Captain: Westsail 33, Four week cruise in the Sea of Cortes
2023 – First Mate: Oyster 575, Portsmouth, UK to Brunswick, GA, USA
2022 - Delivery Captain: Island Packet 370, Long Beach, CA to Monterey, CA
2022 – Delivery Captain: Dehler 42, La Paz, MX to San Diego, CA
2021 – Solo circumnavigation of Vancouver Island: Bayfield 36, 540 M over eight days
2017 – Delivery Captain: Four months of inter-island deliveries, vessels 42’ to 62’
2016 – Delivery Crew: Beneteau First 473, 17 days from Maui to Vancouver
Ongoing – Captain: Since 1997 have made numerous week long trips to Desolation Sound, Princess Louisa Inlet, and other destinations on the British Columbia and Washington coasts. Most passages made were with crew who had no sailing experience (effectively single-handing the yachts).

I've worked across North America and have gained highly valuable experience in a great many fields. I've been the service manager in a diesel truck shop, a carpenter with a bridge building contractor, manager of a guest ranch, a backcountry guide, editor of a magazine, a sales representative for a multinational corporation, a certified yacht broker and live-in staff at a remote, private school. Now I'm applying all these skills to build a life near and on the water.
