I am a 200t Yacht Master (since 1984) offshore/oceans with commercial endorsement for both sail and power and hold a non-commercial 1600t license (not MCA). I have over 490,000 miles of sailing in various parts of the world, including 3 circumnavigations, I have just completed my 22nd Atlantic crossing sailing (3 on motor yachts), 3 Pacific tours (Australia-Panama), cruising privately, as a charter skipper and flotilla leader. In the past, I was a sailing instructor for youngsters and adults in sailing clubs and schools. Served in the navy as an electronics officer. In addition, I have worked as a chief/mechanic/engineer on various ships and engines and can handle anything from 2Hp outboards up to 2500 Hp engines. I am very handy (do it yourself guy), owned and maintained my own (8) yachts (from 27 to 82 feet), proficient with mechanical, electrical, fiberglass, wood, deck and general maintenance work. My experience and technical background are a helpful addition to surveying and supervising build and refits on private or outsourced basis.
During the last 10 years, I have taken some time off and sailed my own boat, mostly with 'paying crew' on board to help finance the journeys.

I’ve rebuilt a friend’s Sundeer 64 (from the keel up) which I was planned to sail around the Horn and beyond but plans changed due to COVID and health condition of my friend. In 2022 I took upon myself another refit of a 72’ custom built motor/sailor and upon completion sailed her from east coast Australia to Seychelles (half of that solo).
For the last 18 months I’ve Captained a 82’ schooner doing charters in the Caribbean’s and now in the Med.
I am available with my fiancé who’s Spanish/Brazilian, a competent deckhand/stew/hostess and chef.

Apart from sailing, I have worked for several years in the metal industry. My last position was production manager of a steel casting and machining company of over 100 employees. I dealt with all aspects of production and more including quality control, QA, customer complaints, training and supervising own employees and outsourcing. I have a BSc in metallurgy and mechanical engineering. During the past 34 years I have sailed in various places and on various types of journeys (deliveries, charters, racing, cruising privately...) working intensively as a charter skipper and delivery skipper/crew.

I have been sailing since I was 7 years old. Had owned my own yachts (9.5 meter Swedish Trimaran, Moody 38, Elan 43 and now a Mikelson 51, a Becker 27 and a 26 meter Dutch Tjalk from 1909), built a Ted Brewer design 46' fiberglass boat, sailed and lived on my boats and those I've worked on for the greater part of my life. I have taught children and adults to sail in various types of sailing schools so I think I can say that sailing is and has been a great deal of my life. I am very self motivated and love what I do (and it shows). I am a very social person, I love children and practically get along with anyone. I like to share my knowledge and learn from whomever is around me. I am not obligated to a place or area so can take up a job anywhere.
