Dear Shipmates

Introduction

I love the ocean. I have spent over 25 years working on the ocean as Captain, Marine Engineer and Scuba Instructor. I am interested in sharing my love of the ocean with others and to help them navigate safely through the Great Barrier Reef on their vessel and below the surface as a dive guide. I also enjoy delivering yachts to destinations of your choice.
On board your vessel, I am sure that I will be quite useful.
First of all, I am easy going and enjoy a good chat. However, if you prefer a bit of quiet I also enjoy finding a comfortable position and read a good book. In terms of sailing experience, I first started playing on hoby cats as a teenager and have been working professionally on sailing yachts and maxi-yachts for the past 25 years. However, I must confess, I prefer the cruising lifestyle and finding relaxing coral cays for a snorkel or a dive to break up a long trip.
If we need fresh fish I love to fish or spearfish for trout: or trawl a lure for mackerel. If you have never cruised on a yacht before I would be pleased to show you how!
If you have children I am a qualified teacher, both primary and high shool. My field of specialty is maths, chemistry, physics and biology.
In terms of in water experience. I am a qualified marine biologist and a PADI Open Water Dive Instructor. I have spent a few years working on a research vessel on the Great Barrier Reef. We were involved in the introduction of swimming with Minke whales and often had National Geographic onboard our expeditions.
At presentcI am the captain on a 35 meter square rigged tall ship on the Great Barrier Reef.
In short, as I said before, I love the ocean: and am willing to share my knowledge with you and your family.

Hi, My name is Karl. I love the ocean and everything to do with sailing, scuba diving and marine biology. I have spent my life on the water. I was born in Rhode Island (the home of the Americas Cup) and moved to Noosa Australia with my family as a teenager. I studied marine biology at University whilst surfing on the weekends.
I moved up to the Whitsundays where I was a deckie for three years and then sailed up the coast of Queensland to Port Douglas where I worked on a live-aboard dive boats and became a fully qualified masterclass 5 captain and Marine Engine driver grade 3. I then qualified as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. Since I like kids I went back to University and qualified as a maths and science teacher at James Cook University. I have worked on a wide range of sailing and power vessels within the commercial toursim industry for the past 20 years. I am currently sailing yachts in the Whitsundays with my son who is also a qualified captain.

I already live and work on charter yachts. I am currently working as a Masterclass 4 captain on charter yachts in the Whitsundays. I have a lot of experience on yachts both above the water and below. I am interested in finding a vessel in which the owners would like a paid professional to teach them how to sail their boat safely within the Great Barrier Reef and truly enjoy what their vessel has to offer in terms of safely enjoying the Marine environment in terms of scuba diving, fishing and safely anchoring in remote locations.
