Dear Shipmates

Introduction

Grew up racing Y-Flyers (one design 18’ sailboat) primarily on lakes of south and east coast of US. Some bareboat and sailing on friend’s boats in Florida and the Caribbean.

Bought the boat late 2015. Long term goal was/is coastal cruising the Sea of Cortez til I’ve seen it all … then explore south til we get to the canal and turn to port.

Spent the last 9 years as a live-aboard running UPV 6-pack day charters in Marina del Rey, CA, US. (I am not a licensed captain. Hired various captains with me onboard as crew. Am one of the founders of the local Charterboat Operators Association, so safety at sea is of importance to me.)

Last summer, I began prepping the boat for her new life of cruising rather than day charters. Found a very excited recently retired friend of a friend (not much sailing experience, but great mechanical and electrical knowledge. The most important person onboard!!!)

Unfortunately, the trip from Marina del Rey to La Paz was not much fun for him so he headed back to the states.

Looking for someone that wants to go on an adventure, checking out the amazing possibilities of this beautiful area. Open to duration. Sailing is relatively easy to learn … ability to help troubleshoot and repair mechanical / electrical issues is invaluable.

I don’t drink or do drugs. NO non-prescription drugs or firearms will be tolerated. Reasonable alcohol - when not on watch - is fine. I do smoke cigarettes.

34’ catamaran sailboat - Gemini 105Mc. Single engine with outdrive.

3 cabins, 1 head. Hard front deck - no net.

Share food and fuel costs. 27hp diesel uses .6 gallons of fuel per hour when the winds aren’t cooperating.

Vessel repairs, maintenance, insurance etc on me.

Plan to be on anchor most of the time.

Have solar panels, lifepo batteries, solar generators, watermaker, composting head, propane water heater for showers on deck.

Battery operated coolers (2 fridge / 1 freezer) / microwave / toaster oven / single induction burner / GoSun solar cooker / Cobb grill.

EPIRB. Inflatable dingy with electric engine. 2 kayak/SUP. Fishing rods.

Have fun and enjoy the experience. Mother Nature will always have her way … just feel the wind and adjust your sails. Itinerary will adjust regularly, weather dependent.

Safety on the water is important! Comfortable life jacket strongly suggested when underway. Required on solo watch for any overnight passages. (Prefer you to Bring your own inflatable life jacket. )

Keep common areas clean. Keep your cabin not gross!

We will be living off-grid so water conservation and realistic trash policies are necessary.
