Dear Shipmates

Introduction

I am a recently retired accelerator physicist with a dream of sailing the world. After 10 years of sailing in the San Francisco Bay and many charters in other locations I have recently purchased a comfortable blue water cruiser to achieve that dream. My plan is to spend the next two seasons in the Mediterranean to get comfortable with the boat and prepare her for a circumnavigation starting around October 2026. I'll occasionally have family/friends joining me in the med but will be looking for crew to join me for company in my travels around the med, share my love of sailing and exploring and hopefully find someone that would like to join me on some or all of my circumnavigation starting next year.

About the boat, the plans, and current crew

usually cleancomfortablevery safevessel is survey certifiedshare experiencevisit remote placesfulfill a dreamface challenges

The boat is a beautiful 2012 Hallberg-Rassy 48 with a recently completed refit. With a displacement of 18,500 kg and center cockpit she provides a very comfortable ride. She is cutter rigged and has electric furling on the Genoa and main so easily handled even in high winds.

What is expected of the crew

I'm a confident sailor (over 10,000 nm sea miles, RYA Yachtmaster Coastal) and comfortable sailing the boat solo so I don't have much requirement for sailing ability, just a willingness to learn a few skills and follow orders to maintain safety on the boat.
