Dear Shipmates

Introduction

I have been sailing for over forty years and this is my third 40 ft+ sailing yacht. I have sailed my boats out of San Diego, Portland OR, San Francisco Bay, and Marina del Ray CA.

I am planning to sail the Puget Sound, starting in Olympia this month (March 2025) sailing North in a series of day-sails, staying in marinas to the San Juan Islands, and then to the Canadian Gulf Islands, finishing up in Sidney or Victoria BC prior to returning to Olympia sometime in June 2025. Family and friends will be joining me for various legs of the voyage.

Looking for crew who will be interested in a combination of sailboat crewing and doing some boat sitting while I return home periodically for business in Portland OR. All ports of call in the US will have public or private transportation to get to Seattle/Tacoma/SEATAC or Olympia. Crew that want to do small legs of this voyage are welcome. Flexibility is key as we do not sail during small craft warnings. We are fair weather sailors.

About the boat, the plans, and current crew

The yacht has all the latest electronics, factory installed including navigation, autopilot, radar, etc. Also it has a very sophisticated heating system which can be independently controlled by each respective cabin (3) that operates well on shore power or when underway, and when anchored out (It has a diesel heating component). She also has a big screen TV, and a great sound system both in the salon and in the cockpit. Oh yeah, and it has air conditioning for when you are connected to 120V shore power.

We carry a new 9 ft. Zodiac tender mounted on dinghy rings , which is easy to board using the tailgate style transom. And she sports powerful electric powered motor (not a trolling motor).

The sail plan is simple: All lines can be managed from the cockpit. The foresail has a glide track so you do not have to switch between port and starboard sheets. Nice for single handling.

What is expected of the crew

clean & tidydiligentdiscreeteasy-goingfriendlyorganisedtrustworthygood listenergood communicatorpolitepositive outlooksense of humorcan pay own expensesdon't mind cleaningcan follow orderswill not bring a petharmony

I usually sail with family and friends, so I do not often get to sail with skilled experienced crew. I would enjoy opportunities to sail with other experienced sailors. However, regardless of experience, the most important attribute for the crew is the willingness to do whatever is necessary to keep the boat and other passengers out of harms way:
