Dear Shipmates

Introduction

Change of plans for this year's boating. We will be operating a charter business in Beaufort, NC. 3-4 elegant harbor cruises per day, 5 days/week. With meals, wine, and beer. Small groups of not more than 6 guests. Will be looking for one or two crew to help with lines and service. Each trip will be roughly 1-1/2 hours long, with some food/drink service. There is a strong possibility of making a lot of money in tips, although there's no guarantee of that. We will be running this through October. It is possible that crew can live aboard in the second cabin.
To be a part of the crew, no particular skillset is needed, but any crew skills would be appreciated. Mostly looking to have a good crew to enjoy the trip. Will gladly teach anything that you need to know. We will be coastal and intra-coastal through the entire trip. Perhaps you can take the helm some. Certainly handle dock lines, and light cleaning. If you’re not already booked, this can be a fun summer through early fall gig. If you can cook - even better - because eating well is part of the plan!

About the boat, the plans, and current crew

The vessel is a 45' Carver M/Y, with a flybridge AND a pilothouse. The galley is a little small but newly remodeled. Once you learn to be organized you can produce a great meal there. There are two full-sized staterooms, a pullout bed, and two heads complete with shower stalls. The boat is in fantastic condition, and we intend to keep it that way.

This would be a great spot for someone that is looking to learn the basics of good seamanship, navigation, and general deck hand responsibilities, including watchstanding and line handling. The skipper is a 12 year crewman on Coast Guard 47' Motor Lifeboat, and a licensed captain. Has done many trips from Boston to NC and back. Beyond that, it will be generally targeted at having some fun, eating well, and enjoying each other's company. Perhaps building some lifelong friendships too.
