Dear Shipmates

Introduction

If you are interested cruising the Caribbean, this might work for you. The vessel is a Contest 38s with a winged keel. This latter feature allows sailing in very shallow waters, which at times in the Caribbean is very useful. Contest yachts whole not well known in the US, are considered in Europe to be on par with Swans and Oysters.
I am looking for one person to sail with me from BVI to Grenada in February. Your level of experience is not an issue but having a good positive attitude is. I am a licensed Master with the USCG and have over 50 years of sailing experience. This is a trip I have made several times and can be done either direct or with a stops along the way. While I have made the trip directly this time I want to island hop.
The boat is a center cockpit sloop with an aft cabin and a private berth forward with an adjacent head. That belongs to the crew exclusively at night with the head/shower being shared at other times.
I am responsible for all vessel costs. I expect a contribution for food, beverage etc, which would be agreed upon before sailing You are responsible for getting to BVI and returning to where ever you desire. If you are looking to acquire sea time, or earn a bit about blue water sailing this is your chance. Let's talk.

True blue water boat, which is very fast and a proven passage maker. She is a center cockpit which is both safe and comfortable. Her split cabin arrangement affords privacy and is quite comfortable.

I am a retired maritime lawyer, and was a professional charter boat captain for 14 years in the BVI . I carry a USCG 100 ton license with sail endorsement .

I am looking for an individual or a couple who wants to cruise the Caribbean under sail on a fast cruising boat. You should be fit, drug free, willing to accept instruction, and looking for an experience. All boat related expenses are my responsibility. However, you are responsible to all transportation costs to and from the boat.

I have had numerous crew members both paid as part of my charter business and unpaid as part of voyaging, and to a person it was a worthwhile experience for all of us. Please only consider this opportunity if you have the time, money, and right frame of mind to spend 7-10 days aboard.

Anyone who is considering being crew on a sail boat, must be considerate of both the boat and fellow crew members. Which means, in part, being tidy, well bathed, and always thinking of the effect your behavior has on others. If you are looking to "party" or "rock on" this is not the right boat for you. Please make a thorough estimate of what you expect and need. Trust me this will not be "Below Decks." This is , rather, life on a small sailboat.
