Dear Shipmates

Introduction

Update 20 Feb 2025: Good on crew now until probably mid April. I might want to add a crew person for some island hopping in Bahamas, heading up to Marsh Harbour or Freeport.

Update 9 Feb.2025:
Now in Antigua, still looking for crew for passage to BVI.

As of 18 Jan 2025:
Looking for crew from Martinique for passages up to BVI, leaving first weather window After Jan 31. I have some flexibility on the route and you could hop off before BVI if that suits you. Looking to depart about Feb 1 depending on the weather. We can take our time getting up there and look for good weather windows. Stops might include Antigua, Barbuda, St Martin etc. Once in BVI, you'd be welcome to stay on for a while and we could hop around BVI/USVI. I have friends coming in March 1, so would need you off by then. I'm always looking for good crew though, so there could be future opportunities as well.

Hope to hear from you and see you soon!

About the boat, the plans, and current crew

usually cleancomfortablevery safevessel is survey certifiedhave a holidayshare experienceshare charter costsvisit remote placesfulfill a dream

The boat is a 2020 Lagoon 42 sailing catamaran. I've been cruising on catamarans for over 6 years now, and owned/cruised a monohull previously. Destinations have included East Coast US, Bahamas, Mexico, Cuba, Turks & Caicos, Puerto Rico, USVI, BVI, St Martin, Barbuda, Antigua and more. The boat is solid and quite capable of blue water sailing.

The boat has inflatable SUPs, dinghy, fishing gear and more. We’re safety conscious and are outfitted with a lot of offshore safety gear including life-raft. She is not a party boat, but having some fun while maintaining a level of safety is our ideal.

I hold a 200 ton merchant mariner credential with the USCG (i.e captain's license) with sailing endorsement, plus STCW, CPR/FA, PADI divemaster, and am a rebreather tech diver. I'm an underwater photographer and lead trips around the world for that passion. I've done about 15k nautical miles sailing and on dive vessels, but am always looking to learn more.

What is expected of the crew

A positive, friendly outlook with open mind and an eye towards learning is way more important than anything like experience, age, race, sexuality, political view, etc. If you just want to party, we’re not your boat. But if you want to learn about operating a boat like this Lagoon 42 or just spend some great time in the beautiful Bahamas, contact me.

Everyone aboard gets a private cabin, and head. It's a boat, so tighter quarters than what people are generally used to. But it is a roomy catamaran and with a private cabin, you can escape when you need to.

For expenses, you will be expected to cover your flights, and personal expenses. You will not be expected to pay for boat insurance, maintenance, or repairs.

During passages: I will cover fuel, food, dockage etc. You just get your flights as needed.

While cruising: For fuel and dockage/moorings, you can chip in as you see fit. We generally stay out on anchor so there really aren't a lot of other expenses beyond food.
