Dear Shipmates

Introduction

I am a retired airline pilot currently have the C36 in MdR but would like to cruise in something like a Jeanneau 53, Beneteau 54 or similar up to about 60'. Have some boats targeted, wish to find out what kind of interest might be had by shipmates on this site. Occasionally friends that have jobs will join the crew for weeks to a month or two especially during a passage. The boats mentioned are 5 cabins so I'm looking for at least one or two shipmates that wish to join in. The contribution option has a lower limit of $10/day, I only clicked this at all was because of the cost of fuel/food in some parts of the world. I would like to have a harmonious group along so we can enjoy the journey together.

UPDATE 3/27/17
I travelled to Tortola in the BVI in late February/early March to personally inspect the 2011 Jeanneau 53 Lady Suzanne which is part of the Sunsail/Moorings/Footloose charter fleet. I was there 3 days had the boat professionally surveyed including a haulout, to say the least, the boat was not in as pictured condition. The photographs in the ads must have been taken a couple of years earlier and several important systems had been cannibalized to keep other boat in their fleet operational, some of the systems not cannibalized had not been maintained well or had poorly done repairs. I totally enjoyed the area and would love to cruise the area but not in a Sunsail/Moorings/Footloose boat. I liked the Jeanneau 53 and made an offer for her "almost as is" at a significantly reduced price which the seller was not interested in. Back to the search.

UPDATE 2/6/17
I have an accepted offer on Jeanneau 53 in the Caribbean and will be traveling to inspect the boat, survey and sea trial shortly. If all goes wee delivery will take place in late April 2017. Standby for further updates.

One of the boats I am looking at is in the BVI, the others in Greece/Croatia. So the plan would be to start there, outfitting the boat and exploring which ever area while becoming familiar with the boat and crew. I am not scuba qualified but would love to learn, I hope to have dive equipment including compressor aboard. I do have snuba equipment aboard current boat. I am open to all cruising grounds so long as the weather suits my clothes. Let's avoid bitter cold. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions, comments or suggestions. Mark
