Dear Shipmates

Introduction

Australian with an international heart looking to explore the coast and islands.
Generous to a fault, open minded, respectful of others space and privacy.
Most of my life I've worked as a carpenter/builder and also in the marine industry.
I hold a Master 5 captains ticket for commercial vessels as well as an MED 2 and IYT qualifications.
I have competed in many "blue water" yacht races in Australia as well as two of the famous Sydney to Hobart classic.
I have sailed the coasts of Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Mexico, Polynesia.
I have traveled/lived/surfed in New Zealand, Fiji, Polynesia, Indonesia/south east Asia, Canada, USA, South America,Ireland.
I am a fit, single, no dependents and have been a traveling surfer my whole life also teaching surfing.
I enjoy all ocean water sports like surfing, windsurfing, kite boarding, snorkeling, scuba diving and all healthy land activities - skiing, snow boarding, hiking and cycling.
I love all types of international dishes and appreciate healthy fresh made food mostly vegetarian and fish.
Bake fresh sour dough bread on board.
I like most music, play guitar, harmonica and welcome to BYO instrument.
There are various instruments on board.
I enjoy a beer or two or some wine but not a heavy drinker and very rarely will I get drunk though sometimes is seemed like a good idea at the time? 🥴
Privacy and chill time for all.
I play a little Chess and Backgammon and some fun dice games.
I love a sense of humour, being silly 😆 and good story telling.

About the boat, the plans, and current crew

Sailing from Carnarvon around the end of May 2025 up the Ningaloo coast mostly day sailing bay hopping to Exmouth stopping at some of the most beautiful anchorages along the way for surfing snorkeling and spear fishing and generally chilling out and taking in the amazing scenery and wildlife.

From Exmouth heading out through the Mackerel Islands and up to the Montibello islands for a month or so I before returning to Exmouth to resupply before heading north east towards Broome then exploring the Kimberly and on to Darwin.
The next destinations Rolly Shoals, Scott reef, West Timor and beyond!

Some sea time preferably but not essential. It's a romantic idea to sail anywhere but it requires a certain type of person to cope with the elements, gain boat skills and live in close quarters.
A sea trial of a few days will help to decide if it's good for all concerned.
I don't put my boat or others under stress and I keep it all very relaxed choosing good weather windows to sail and resting between passages, being patient when it's not. No time line, no pressure, enjoy.
I generally prefer sailing with mixed company as I find it much more balanced and interesting.
While I have selected the "Romance" option it is NOT a prerequisite.
Good, intelligent, happy and easy going platonic company comes first.
There have been several younger international female crew I formed great platonic friendships with who kindly left references.

All destinations and passage plans are weather dependent and flexible.

I am happy to teach sailing skills and navigation to the best of my ability... and you can teach me a thing or two 🙏☺️

My boat is a Crowther Windspeed 38 Catamaran professionally built with dagger boards. So boards up with a shallow draft for lagoon life, very sea worthy, strong fast and fun. Simple and easy to handle rig. Main and furling jib, symmetrical spinnaker.
Tiller steer but the autopilot does most of the steering and never complains while you trim sails, cruise around and enjoy the scenery.
Reliable, economical, twin diesels.
Two private double beds in opposite hulls and two singles, full galley down.
Two fridges and two freezers to carry plenty of supplies for island living.
Solar powered with portable gen-set and water maker.
Head/toilet with hot shower and hose that can also be run outside. Another shower on the forward tramps which is also a great place to stretch out, relax any time, watch the 🐬 or moon light nights and star gazing.

Very comfortable over 6'4"height head room in cockpit saloon and hulls. Privacy in a separate cabins with double beds and ample room inside and out as it has a 7mt beam (almost 23ft) making it wide and stable.
Protected wide cockpit with solid coach roof gives safe easy access to main sail and comfortable seating under the coach roof.
The coach roof covering the cockpit gets you out of the sun and elements while enjoying the view. Complete canvas and or mosquito covers around cockpit and all hatches. Comfortable saloon, removable doors and windows into cockpit for the tropics.
A pleasure to be on board

I am happy to teach surfing where it is safe. Plenty of spare surf boards. Kite boarders will have to bring their own gear.
Recommend to bring your own dive/snorkel gear and a wet suit.
YOU MUST BE A CONFIDENT SWIMMER!
We will be able to view the Humpback whale migration while travelling north. There is so much sea life, turtles, Manta rays, Dugongs, dolphins, all along the coral coast and islands.
Any member may hop off at any time as there is no time obligation however I would hope there is some commitment if you join ahead of other interested crew.
If at any time it does not suit you to continue you are free to leave and all effort made to get you to a suitable location within reason as soon as possible.

What is expected of the crew

Chores of cooking will be shared though I tend to like preparing the evening meal but happy to enjoy any prepared by crew.

Cleaning polishing is a regular chore and depends on if we're sailing or on anchor. Plenty of fun and chill time I'm not anal about it but do like a clean tidy boat in between passages.

A powerboat licence such as a recreational skippers ticket or equivalent would be valuable and something worth having if you want to join any vessel. It will teach you the basics of the road rules at sea and seamanship.

While I enjoy a couple of beers and a glass of red with dinner regular heavy drinkers need not apply.

There is a watermaker that runs from a portable gen set. The boat holds about 450lt which usually lasts well, depending on how you use water, a quick hot shower each day is recommended if you have been in the ocean but not long showers to help conserve water 😁

A daily live aboard cost of $40 is minimal.
Most dry stores are already supplied and we share the cost to top up and for fresh supplies for fruit and vegetables.
Bring your own alcohol.
Anything extra you require is at your own expense.
Cheap living, great locations!
I am an easy going tolerant person and I expect the same however the captain always has the last say or better the last laugh 😂.

Thanks for viewing my profile.
Fair winds and safe passage to those that
venture the big blue!🙏😎
