Recently retired, I want to sail more often and further afield. Based in the Med and with a choice of down to Spain and the Balearics or coastal hopping up to Toulon and a crossing to Corsica, I am available from Easter to autumn. The boat is a heavy displacement long keel yacht which is both comfortable at sea and safe. There are 3 cabins and 2 heads, a good size galley and a deep cockpit. I have ambitions to cross the Atlantic in 2019. My wife does not like sailing but occasionally comes out to meet me at the destination.
I speak fluent French but my sailing vocabulary is mostly English so to avoid misunderstandings, I would keep to English for sailing. I like to keep the boat tidy and well maintained and like to mix eating on board with local restaurants when possible. The main objective of sailing is to have fun and a sense of adventure.
2017 was a great sailing season with crew from findacrew from May to the end of September. Sometimes 5 people in all on board, other times just 2. The ideal seems to be 3 or 4 people. Although the prevailing tramontane winds sometimes keep us in port a day or two longer than we would like, the boat can cope well in high winds. From 1 st May the boat is based in the Port of Roses, Northern Spain. A short sail to the spectacular village of Cadaques for tapas and artisanal beer.
Update for 2022, the boat has been sold and replaced by a Wauquiez PS40. More modern and easier to manœuvre, she also lies at anchor more calmly. Two double cabins, 2 heads and a comfy berth for tall people in the salon. Otherwise she sails much the same and the sailing areas are unchanged.
