Hi, I'm Laura! I recently backpacked around Oceania and Asia for a year, where I was fortunate enough to gain some sailing experience. I crewed for one week on an Open 66 race boat where we sailed around the island of Lombok, Indonesia. I had an incredible time, learned a lot, and fell even more in love with the ocean than before (while also learning that sailing is incredibly difficult work — hats off to all you captains!).

During my week on board, I learned the parts of the boat, several essential knots, how to tune the sails, how to tack, how to raise and drop anchor, how to navigate, how to scrub barnacles off the bottom of the boat, and more.

I'm now back in the SF Bay Area and hoping to find an easy-going captain who will help me continue to practice my sailing chops. Besides helping with the sails, I can help with maintenance tasks, cooking, and cleaning. I am open for just day sails, or would love to spend more significant time on board and go out for a few days or weeks at a time.
