Hello everyone, I'm a very uninteresting Brit ex-pat who has very little sailing experience (2 weeks in Portimâo, competent crew and day skipper practical) who has bought a beautiful Trintella IV ketch from 1978. My plan is to live aboard, which I am doing, so it's going well so far.
My first goal, after getting her in the water and not sinking, is to creep veeeery sloowly along the coasts of France and Spain until I get to Portugal. Where most probably I will creep very slowly along the Algarve coast. After that who knows.
I am more interested in sailing than actually arriving anywhere.

Update 13.02.25: Finally got the engine tested after the service, purred like a kitten :-D. The generator eventually started and vomited oil and cooling water. I'm getting a quote :-( but as there seemed to be holes where none were designed to be, the solar panels are looking more urgent. The 24v LiFePO4 batteries have arrived for the bowthruster and windlass but the charger hasn't. Masts are still on, FR4 plates delivered to Switzerland by mistake, same for battery cables
Update 28.01.25: I have to take the masts off which makes my boarding date uncertain.
The boat is a Trintella IV. The photo above is this boat nearly 20 years ago. I'd love to take a new photo but I'm on the hard between two much bigger boats and you can't really see much of her.
She's a lovely, large centre cockpit, long keel ketch with two cabins, a salon and two heads. The berths at the moment have really hard foam cushions/matresses which encourages a healthy lifestyle ;-) no lounging in bed unless there's a chiropractor crewing with us. There's room for four to sleep in the aft cabin, if they're not too big and are really good friends.
There are two fixed VHF radios and one handheld on board. EPIRB, AIS transceiver, radar, 4 person liferaft and usual safety stuff is also here.
She's got a newish, professionally serviced 2025, 75hp Betamarine engine with 300 hours, a diesel generator and a Webasto diesel heater(currently in bits on the saloon table). She also has a bow thruster and an electric windlass.
There's a new Victron inverter with 5kW of LiFePO4 batteries and I'm looking at solar panels.
The galley is electric and gimballed with an induction hob and an old, but very effective, combi-oven microware thingy (which I might replace soon because I really miss my steamer). There's a small fridge as well. There's also a gas hob if the electricity runs out.
The plans are as above, sail slowly west.

People with lots of experience are welcome, though the passages I'm planning will be boring for you, unless you really enjoy watching people make mistakes or just love being on the water. People with less experience and strong nerves are also welcome because it'll be fun, we can learn together. If you're bringing a partner you'll have to provide a PFD for them as I only have two at the moment.
As for contributions, I will pay running costs, repairs (unless caused by malice), marina and fuel. If there is one crew person aboard then I'll pay for the food, within reason. If you only eat filet steak and caviar, I'll be happy to help you eat it (except for the caviar) but I'm not paying for it. If there are more crew we will divide the food costs fairly.
