Let's just go sailing. Slowly, without the sound of an engine running. Where to? Who cares? "Away from the things of man." I am currently anchored in St. Augustine, FL.. Time doesn't matter. I have told my family that my wish is to sail around the world for...maybe 10 years. You could do it in 2 years, but what's the rush? I mean, why miss a single island? Ya wanta do this?

The boat:
My previous boat was destroyed by a hurricane in November, 2023. So, I bought another sailboat.

The new boat is currently being remodeled:
54' long, 14' beam, 6.5' keel a 65' tall main mast.
The forward cabin will have a V-berth queen size bed and an overhead hatch to view the stars, head sails and puffy clouds on a sunny day. In the forward cabin, are (2) closets and shelves for storing whatever you bring along. There will also be a huge head, complete with a walk around shower, full vanity and currently a Jabsco toilet.
The aft cabin will hopefully have a full size bed & portholes for light / ventilation. The aft cabin should also have a closet space and shelves for all the things I once brought on board, by mistake! Lol

Main salon has 1 settee on the port side. 1 on the starboard side

The wheelhouse is mainly the galley with a gimbled two burner propane stove and oven. The galley Corian countertop has a double sink, fresh hot and cold and filtered seawater. There are two refrige/freezer boxes with independent compressors and T-stats, so they can be configured in a number of ways.

Currently, she has a 40 gallon/hour water.

On demand propane water heater.

80hp Perkins diesel engine.
120 gal diesel.
120 gal. Water.
40 gal holding tank.
1585 watts of solar panels, feeding a 800amp/hour battery bank to power everything.
The entire cockpit/aft deck will have a hardtop. Dinghy davits.
Electric winch at the helm for all halyards. Still with me? Cool!

So many islands and coast lines to choose from. I am currently anchored in St. Augustine, FL. USA. The task at hand is to complete the remodeling of all the interior surfaces and cabinetry. The work will continue through the end of 2023, or when it is complete.

I am planning on launching her in November 2023
I may do some coastal travelling as the work progresses, just for a change of scenery.

The long range plan, at the moment, is to sail up to Maine in the early spring of 2023 to prepare for a northern Atlantic crossing during the summer. Maine to Newfoundland, Greenland, Iceland, Faroe Island, Scotland, then on to the Baltic Sea would be the most pleasant route with a few days between landfall on each leg of the journey.

Note: My desires to go sailing are on so many levels.
(1) I have no use for political views. I find it more harmful than productive. I would rather have a conversation of what we each believe in.
(2) There are so many cultures to explore.
(3) A calm and peaceful lifestyle is possible.
(4) Tell me more about yourself!!! Why sailing?

Having stated that, plans sometimes change and destinations may not be as important as the journey, with crew, dear friends and weather conditions.

I am flexible.

So, where would you like to sail to?

Perhaps, you could convince me to steer in a new direction.

So, the boat is a 2000 steel sailboat. Single mast and an almost flat, clear deck forward of the wheelhouse. My plan it to complete a few needed mechanical tasks while I am anchored in St. Augustine, FL. Long term: I want to sail her to as many parts of the world for as long as I can. Today is September 4, 2023. Within a few months, I hope to launch her and set some sails for a few shack down cruises before heading "Out There".

At the moment, I am sailing solo. But, there is so much room in this vessel, it is begging for crew to jump onboard and help with/enjoy normal sailing adventures.

I love to cook!. I don't mean just soup and sandwiches. I mean cooking really great food. Not always, but why eat bland?

My strong suit has always been math. But, this stumps me: Having been on this Earth for 68 years, I am not that old. I don't feel or act like it. I don't believe I look it. So, how is it possible?

Perhaps, it is the way I feel about life.

Let's just go sailing!

I bought this boat, knowing it should be shared and enjoyed by other people, friends and maybe, just maybe, a life long companion.

Anyway, that's the plan!
