I am seeking delivery experiences to gain miles and expand my professional resume. I hold a commercially endorsed RYA Yachtmaster Offshore, which I trained for in the Solent, UK and the English Channel during the winter season, experiencing challenging sea states and weather conditions. I am deeply familiar with coastal and offshore navigation in tidal waters. I have robust professional experience as a crew member on larger vessels, having sailed 5500nm in the Pacific on a Challenge 72 as a professional deckhand. Here, I helped lead offshore passages with a commercial crew of 12 paying guests to remote locations. I have an additional 1,600 miles sailing offshore near the UK on milebuilding passages to familiarize myself with tougher conditions as I mentioned before.
In addition, I have worked for two seasons as a skipper and mate for a day-charter 50ft performance sailing vessel. I have six seasons of racing experience in one-design on a Melges-24 in California, so am comfortable and familiar with many facets of the sailing industry and can easily adapt to the fast pace intensity of competitive sailing as well as the more dynamic and big picture pace of ocean passages.
As a crew, I bring a level of meticulous planning and attention to safety and navigational detail to keep the vessel and crew safe at all times. I maintain a high level of professionalism in my work as well as contribute to a friendly and supportive crew dynamic. I am flexible and adaptable and can bring a measured yet focused expedition mindset to extreme situations that demand effective teamwork, coordination, and thoughtful decision making. My background as an outdoor educator also lends a proclivity for suffering well and with a smile on my face. I have a thick skin for dealing with extreme environmental conditions and can work effectively in such conditions to manage safety while keeping a cool head.
Please reach out with any questions and I look forward to hearing from you!
