Hi! My name's Jero and I'm looking for someone that could host me a period of time during summer holidays (from late July until early August). I would like to have an unforgettable trip sailing somewhere in the Mediterranean sea.

I want to experience a slow-paced journey, stopping along the way and going sightseeing. I'm looking forward to meet new and different people, and if you think I can invite someone else apart from me, I'll be fine with it! I'm available for whatever you need on the boat, you can expect me to help you and contribute to this journey in the best way possible. I already travelled solo to Morocco and Turkey with people from all nationalities, this time I would like to share the journey with someone around my age, Italian or Spanish would be great! Only if it’s possible, of course. I'm so excited to live the experience of spending some days at sea, I haven't done anything like it before, and I'm sure I'll love it.

I can offer to plan our itinerary and do all the research if you want, as well as arranging the most technical stuff such as the budget, the schedule, buying groceries, bookings, tourism, etc., apart from doing chores aboard. Now I have plenty of free time to spend on doing this, just in case you need some of my help. Me and my family like to travel and we enjoy doing it frequently. I put a lot of effort into designing our trips and I have experience with that. I usually like travelling in a cheap way, but of course I'm willing to contribute if you need me to pay some things.

I can tell I'm dreaming of waking up in a Greek beach, swimming in crystal turquoise waters, cooking and having some food aboard while we all talk, setting up the boat to head somewhere else, stopping along the way, visiting places, diving the shores... It's like a dream come true for me, I'm pretty sure it'll be an experience of a lifetime.

I am the kind of person who prefers the beach to the mountains. I come from a family of fishermen in the northernmost village of Spain, in Galicia. The sea is a very important part of our culture, and sailing has always been very present. I usually spend my summers in a coastal town near Pontevedra, where there is a lot of fishing and sailing. Although I have been on a sailing boat a few times, I have never had the chance to learn in depth, and I think this could be an excellent opportunity.

I am very open-minded and love to meet people and cultures very different from my own. I am a good listener rather than a good talker. I am polite and have good manners.

I consider myself a responsible and strong-willed person, hard-working, ambitious and not lazy at all. I like to be productive; I have initiative and I don't like to leave things half done. Sometimes I can be a bit too much of a perfectionist. Although leading is not my strong point, I fulfill my obligations and do a flawless job. I am independent but I know how to work in a team, which is very important. I have been a Boy Scout since I was five years old; a very important part of my life. There I learned to live together and to respect, to be useful, to be someone helpful, to work in a team.... (a few knots too haha). I am a clean, hygienic and tidy person and I follow a healthy lifestyle, I take care of my diet, I don't smoke or take drugs.

I know how to clean, cook basic things and I love to learn. I am a very curious person and I have interests and concerns very different from the rest. For me one of the most fun things to do is to open an encyclopedia or watch a documentary. I am interested in many different fields: biology, geology, history, geography, mathematics, chemistry, physics, art, music, culture, philosophy... You name it. I am also passionate about languages. I am almost bilingual in English and I can defend myself very well in French. Then I want to study Arabic. A language exchange could be great for me. I also play the guitar.

Above all, my favorite thing in the world is traveling. Traveling. You don't know how much it fills me up. It was in 2019 when I first stepped out of my culture for a vacation in Tanzania. It opened my mind and made me rethink so many things. A place so exotic and so different changes your life. From that moment on I realized that what I wanted to do for the rest of my life was to travel frequently. Before that I gave much more importance to material things, but I realized that what really matters are the experiences. You can learn so many things from a trip and take so many memories.... Especially if you surround yourself with your family and friends. I thought it was going to be impossible because you have to spend a lot of money, but I discovered the style of travel that I like. I'm the kind of person who prefers Couchsurfing or volunteering to staying in an all-inclusive hotel. I think an experience like that gives you so much more to remember, you meet people and you can make lifelong friendships. It's a way to learn and immerse yourself much more in the culture and the place (and it's also much cheaper!). After sailing my friends and I will most likely rent a house for free by taking care of some pets, or doing a Home Exchange. I travel light, without much luggage, and always the cheapest way. I like the backpacker vibe. I care and respect the environment, I take it very seriously. I like to travel responsibly, I hate mass tourism and I usually try to avoid contributing to tourism that is not respectful of the place, in all areas, or that in any way degrades the culture and harms the local population and its environment. I always try to make it a win-win situation. I travel slowly and leisurely, enjoying the little things. I like to include a variety of activities in my travels. Because of this ambition to travel and discover new places, I have spent years researching tricks to avoid spending a lot of money. I'm already an expert in booking flights and accommodation and I enjoy reading travel guides, blogs, articles, forums... I am passionate about planning trips and put a lot of effort into it. I find it one of the most exciting parts. Maybe next year we will do an InterRail, but I have a lot of ideas and plans in mind.

I want to crew on a boat because I have a strong interest in sailing and the skills that come with it. The challenge of working as part of a team in an ever-changing environment is something that I find both exciting and rewarding. Being on a boat requires problem-solving, quick thinking, and cooperation, all of which are skills I enjoy using and developing.

Additionally, I’m drawn to the idea of being close to nature and experiencing life on the water. There’s a straightforward, hands-on aspect to sailing that appeals to me, and I’m eager to learn more about navigation, weather patterns, and boat maintenance. I also appreciate the chance to disconnect from technology and the constant noise of modern life, allowing me to focus on the present moment and the tasks at hand.

Traveling to new places and meeting people from different backgrounds is another significant motivation. I look forward to the opportunity to broaden my horizons, gain new experiences, and form connections with others who share a passion for sailing.

Overall, I want to crew on a boat to improve my sailing skills, experience the practical aspects of life at sea, and engage in meaningful teamwork. It’s a chance to step out of my comfort zone, make new friends, and grow in both a personal and professional capacity.
