Hi, I am a lifelong sailor, racing and cruising, like to sail fast but can also sail in relaxed mode. I don't drink, smoke, or use other conscience altering substances. I am a NY Maritime College grad(nav.arch degree), recvd 3rd mate unlimited tonnage license, which is not current because I worked ashore as a naval architect, but I remember all the "stuff", been using it in practice as a sailboat racing navigator recreationally. I've raced many thousands of miles on sailboats.
Naval architecture degree (graduated 2nd in my class). I was naval architect for the Navy, 1989-2020. Also have master's degree in structural engineering.
I completed 100ton master license course, passed the tests, end of Feb 2024. I will have sea time to get the license by summer 2024, and will also get the sail endorsement.
Currently I am working as a mate on larger dinner tour boats, and hope to get a part-time captain slot when my license comes through. I want to keep that job- it gives me the freedom to do boat deliveries though, which I hope to do also in the future.

I have spent most of my life sailing, or figuring how I can get sailing, started as an infant in a sailing family. I have done 10 Newport to Bermuda races, 9 as navigator, won and placed class and fleet in a few of those races. Done many other ocean races, including Trans-Atlantic (as navigator, 1st in class), Chicago-Mac twice (navigator, 1st in fleet), as well as many deliveries. Also a stint on Arco tankers as training for my 3rd mate unlimited license, and some tugboat experience on my license.
I've sailed on everything from sailboards in Hawaii and a wide spread of racing dinghies up through 85 foot ocean going performance sailboats.
