Duration crew is required for
preferably between 2 months to 3 months
I have a lifetime's experience in sailing and have spent most of the last 7 years in the Indian Ocean, visiting Madagascar, the Mascarene Islands, Chagos, Maldives, India, Malaysia and Thailand, South Africa, St Helena and Brasil. I have done some chartering in Goa, India. I left India 2years ago with a single crew member who left the boat in Reunion Island. Since then I sailed singlehanded to Madagascar, and around the coast of South Africa to Cape Town, and across the Atlantic. I recently completed voyages to Antarctica and north through the Chilean canals to Chiloe Island.

I am presently in Chiloe Island, Chile preparing the boat for a voyage south through the Chilean canals to Ushuaia, looking for crew for this voyage which should take less than 3 months . The boat is a 40 foot steel yacht, strong and comfortable, with a lot of ocean miles under her keel. She has just returned from a 2 month voyage in Antarctica. She has 3 private cabins, one of which is a double, good galley, modern navigation equipment including autopilot, radar and wind vane steering. I am a healthy 59 year old, and I built the boat myself in Sydney. The voyage I propose is a challenging one, and not for the faint-hearted. There will be bad weather and cold, but we will be guaranteed the experience of a lifetime! I am looking for courageous crew members who have a desire for adventure but also a sense of responsibility. and we will have to rely on each other, as Patagonia is an unspoilt wilderness, far from human habitation. Resourceful crew members can find out more be looking me up in 7knots.My crew will need to share in expenses involved in purchasing supplies of food and so on before departing from Chiloe.
How resourceful are you? this is a hint! As crew, experience is not a major requirement, in fact if a little bit of experience makes you overconfident, it can even be a disadvantage. The most important requirement for a sailor is a healthy respect for the ocean and its tendency to present us with the unexpected. You will learn during the course of the voyage a lot about how to keep a course, sail handling and navigation. Your most important responsibility will be to share the work of keeping watch day and night, looking out for other traffic. It would be an advantage if you can cook, and you will be expected to help in routine jobs like cleaning.
