I am putting together another trans Atlantic trip from NY to Gibraltar in June 2011. Check below. PLEASE. if you are looking for a PAID or a WORK position, save yourself some time and MOVE ON to another profile. Yes, I charge for these trips. It is a first rate learning experience and is my profession. If you are interested in really learning offshore sailing and are WILLING TO PAY FOR IT, read on. Spend your time learning, not scrubbing decks and cleaning heads. If you want to sail for free, good luck and be careful. Why would you think a person will have you aboard, give you a bed, feed you, the semi experienced sailor for free? They must be desperate for help, how much do you think you will learn? What is your personal safety worth? Perhaps he can't sail the boat and needs you to do it. Do you want to trust your life AND learn sailing from this person? What about a TRIP TO THE BAHAMAS from Hilton Head this summer. Spend 3 days, 2 overnights sailing and make landfall on a distant island of ABACO in the BAHAMAS. Another three days island hopping, swimming snorkeling and shopping before flying out. Air connections are easy and inexpensive. The reverse trip, three days of relaxing in the islands, then a 3 day sail back. Where else are you going to get a deluxe ocean view room, all meals, a 52' yacht plus captain and instruction for about $180 pppd? All trips leave from hilton head south carolina. Some sailing experience is needed but personality and ability to get along with others is just as important. These are teaching trips for sailors of all levels but there are never any tests or contests pitting one crewmember against another. We need just 1-2 more sailors to keep the cost down on this trip, all participants need not be avid sailors, a great trip for couples.

WOULD YOU LIKE THE SAILING EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME? Do what few sailors have accomplished and what many just dream about, cross an ocean! This will be a full instructional trip for experienced sailors, either as a pure adventure or preparation for your own ocean crossing trip. This will be a Trans Atlantic voyage from the New York City area to Gibraltar with a 3 day stop in the Azores to get some clean clothes, a full nights rest and a restaurant meal. This trip is best done in May/June to avoid the winter storms and the summer hurricane season. I have taken sailors across the Atlantic three times before as well as every other major ocean in the world. I will only take 5-6 sailors so everyone will get individual attention and we will have reasonable room on the boat. Couples are welcome. Personality, ability to get along with others during periods of stress and sleep deprivation are more important than sailing ability.
It is a large boat (52') and sails quickly so it can be sailed conservatively (ie comfortably) and still make good time so it will not wear out the crew. Even though, do not underestimate this trip, the North Atlantic can be a nasty place at times although we will be going during the safest time of yearand keep safety and comfort ahead of speed. Once you are on the trip it is hard to get off. The first leg to the Azores will take around 15-17 days and the next leg to Gibraltar another 6-7 days. Air connections to anywhere are easy from Gibraltar and you just might want to explore the Med. a bit before returning home. You may board the boat anytime the day before departure and stay on for four days after arrival. Cost of the trip is $1500 US, you will get transportation to Europe, a room with an ocean view, all food while sailing, linens, safety equipment and full instruction. Offshore Sailing Shools charge more than this for less than a week of sailing that really never gets offshore. Bum around the Med for the summer and get a ride back in fall, you are now an experienced ocean sailor and in demand. Not included is transportation to and from the boat, shore side meals, any immigration fees and personal expenses.
I will also be running a feeder trip from Hilton Head SC where I am based to NY the beginning of May. This is a 7 day nonstop offshore trip which I have done many times before. All of the same amenities but a shorter trip for $700 US.

I will be doing CHARTER VACATIONS in and around the protected waters of Abaco for those wishing to fly both ways and not make the ocean passage. A CAPTAIN AND BOAT to take you on a complete vacation and sailing experience around Abaco for six days, great for families. Looking for a shorter trip? Beaufort SC, a non stop two overnight sail north with a day layover in the sailing capital of the SE and another two overnight sail back and have you back in six days. This will be offshore and out of sight of land with lots of opportunity for major ship traffic identification, setting and trimming sails for all weather conditions, manning the helm 24 hours a day, and making landfall at an offshore entrance buoy. A lot of sailing experience plus deep sea fishing en route make it a super trip.Capt sails on all trips, not a substitue semi experienced sailor. Give yourself and spouse a novel vacation. Do you just want a 1-2 day trip to nowhere? What about SAILING OUT TO THE GULF STREAM AND BACK? Experience offshore sailing, deep sea fishing along the Stream Wall for Dorado and tuna all in a weekend. These trips are for experienced as well as inexperienced sailors. Some people come for offshore training and others just for the fun and experience. The Stream and the Sargasso Sea are interesting places that few people experience first hand. Again, we just need another couple or a few singles to round out this trip.
A 52 Ft JEANNEAU SUN FAST, the the largest of Jeanneau's ocean racing series is set up for fast, comfortable cruising and has crossed every major ocean of the world with Jack as captain is our vessel. Novice and experienced sailors have shared in this experience. IT CAN TAKE YOU AS WELL! TIME TO STOP DREAMING ABOUT IT AND JUST DO IT. Sailors never have to prove anything, having some relaxed fun is just as important. For couples where one partner is more experienced and interested than the other are particularly encouraged to apply. One bad day for the can ruin THEIR and YOUR sailing career. There were just as many women on the last trip as men, EVERYONE CAN SAIL OFFSHORE. If one of a couple is not interested in sailing but just wants to relax, that's OK, you are here to have some fun. YACHT DELIVERY ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD OR HELP IN SAILING OR DELIVERING YOUR OWN BOAT WITH YOU ON BOARD SERVICES ARE ALSO AVAILABLE. CONTACT ME NOW! JACK, USCG MASTER.
